What is a Virtual Domain?

A Virtual Domain means having your own domain name (http://www.yourname.com). You should check to make sure that your desired domain name is available.

What is InterNIC?

InterNIC is an independent organization responsible for holding the registration and routing of Internet domain names. Without them, it would be virtually impossible to keep track of domains on the Internet.

Registration fee is $70 for the first two years and $35/year thereafter for your virtual domain name. InterNIC will send you an invoice via email after the domain is registered.

We will contact InterNIC once your account is activated to request either a new domain name registration or a domain name modification (transferring an existing domain to our servers).

When we register your domain name with Internic, we list YOU as the owner of the domain, the administrative and billing contract and us as the technical contact. This means you can switch your domain at any time.

How long does it take before my domain is active? [back to top]

Once the InterNIC announces that your domain name has been registered (or transferred, if applicable), it usually takes about 48-hours before it is active. New names take less time since there aren't any approvals needed to register a new name. Transfers take longer because the InterNIC requires your permission and does this by sending for your approval at the e-mail address they have on file for you. If you have changed your e-mail address, you will not receive their request for approval and they will not transfer your name. This problem can be corrected by asking us for your tracking number (we usually provide it if we notice the error) and following the instructions set forth by InterNIC (Item #32).

Will I have unlimited access to update my pages? [back to top]

You have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day. You can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure.

Can I use my account for commercial purposes? [back to top]

Yes, you can use your account for commercial purposes --and pretty much any legal purposes. The World Wide Web has become the most efficient and cost-effective means of making information available to the users of the Internet community and we encourage our customers to utilize such an enormous medium.

Do you offer technical support to customers? [back to top]

Yes. We encourage our customers to send email to support@excelr8.com with questions or concerns regarding their web service. Your questions will be answered promptly and courteously within 24 hours. No question is too trivial.

How long does it take to set up a new account? [back to top]

New accounts are generally set up within 24 hours from the time we receive your order. Once an account is set up an activation notice will be sent to you via email including your user-ID, password, and FTP hostname. You can begin uploading files to your new web site immediately. If you requested a transfer, this makes it possible for you to suffer no down time when the InterNIC processes your transfer and updates their files. Your billing with Excelr8 begins on this day since you have access to space on our servers.

Adding CGI scripting is easy as FTP'ing your script into your cgi-bin directory. Excelr8 currently supports Bourne shell, C shell, and Perl scripting.

Excelr8 offers use of our own customized counter, or you can use your own.

Excelr8 will map your entire domain back to one address allowing you to have an infinite number of aliases.
